About The Artist

Meet Valerie Peterson

 Artist • Painter • Illustrator • Sculptor

I’m Valerie Peterson, a multidisciplinary artist with more than three decades of creative experience in illustration, painting, and sculpture.

My artistic journey has included commissioned portraits, murals, sculpture, and other creative projects, with artwork collected nationally and internationally and sculptures featured in international exhibitions.

I’ve also spent time working as a coach, instructor, and designer, all experiences that have shaped my belief in the importance of creativity, connection, and storytelling.

Today, based in beautiful Eureka Springs, Arkansas, I create artwork inspired by nature, animals, meaningful places, and the memories we carry with us.

Whether painting a cardinal resting among tangled vines, a hummingbird in a peaceful garden, or a landscape filled with wildflowers, I hope to capture something beyond the subject itself...a feeling, a memory, or a moment of connection.

My goal is to create artwork that feels personal, honest, and timeless. Art that brings beauty into everyday spaces and becomes part of the stories we share.

Thank you for being here and taking the time to explore my work.

Artist Statement

I’ve always believed that art is about more than what we see. It’s about what we feel, what we remember, and the connections we make along the way.

I’m drawn to the quiet moments in life—the personality of an animal, the beauty of a familiar place, the way sunlight falls across a landscape, or a simple scene that unexpectedly touches my heart.

When I paint, I’m not simply trying to recreate what is in front of me. I’m trying to capture what makes that moment meaningful.

Sometimes it’s a cardinal that reminds us of someone we love. Sometimes it’s a peaceful landscape that invites us to slow down. And sometimes it’s the smallest details that hold the greatest stories.

My work is guided by intuition, emotion, and a deep appreciation for the natural world. Through color, light, and texture, I hope to create paintings that feel familiar, comforting, and full of life.

More than anything, I want my artwork to connect with people—to bring a little beauty into their everyday lives, stir a cherished memory, or become something meaningful they can pass along.

Because to me, the most beautiful art isn’t simply something we look at.

It’s something we feel.
